Wildfire
Residents of Moab and southeastern Utah can be vulnerable to wildfire — especially those living in the “wildland-urban interface,” or WUI. The WUI is where “eaves meet leaves”; that is to say, where structures are interspersed with natural ecosystems that may also be fire-dependent.
This page is intended as a clearinghouse for resources related to wildfires in and around Moab. It includes information on preparing your home and property to reduce the risk of wildfire; what to know during fire season; and the history and science of wildfires around Moab.
This page is in progress, so please continue to check back for more information!

Prescribed burns are sometimes conducted to mitigate wildfire risk in Moab’s WUI, or “wildland-urban interface.”
